Primary Purpose: As an integral part of the Annual Giving team, the Annual Giving Producer & Writer is the primary copywriter for fundraising solicitations and stewardship communications to donors. The Annual Giving Producer & Writer, working closely with the Annual Giving Strategist, seeks stories to feature in communications that highlight the work that happens across AHS and crafts solicitations and engagement communications around these stories. The Annual Giving Producer & Writer also assists in the execution and production of Annual Giving efforts, working closely with the Brand team and outside vendors. In collaboration with the Advancement department, the Annual Giving Producer & Writer will actively participate in a team environment where ideas for deepening the engagement of donors and constituents, continual process improvement, and a strategic focus on data-driven results is encouraged and celebrated.
Write and edit strong donor-centric messages for donor communications, solicitations, and acknowledgements for multiple channels including digital, direct mail, and phone, and assist with other writing assignments as needed.
Working closely with the Annual Giving Strategist, seek out stories that highlight the various aspects of Animal Humane Society’s work to feature in donor solicitations and communications.
Serve as a member of the Story Scout team, a collaborative team that collects stories from employees and volunteers throughout the organization and documents, tracks, and utilizes those stories in external communications.
Collaborate with Brand, Events, and Philanthropy teams to assist with the execution of integrated multi-channel fundraising campaigns and stewardship strategies.
Assist with project management with outside vendors for products and services required for donor solicitation and donor relations; coordinate with colleagues within and outside the Philanthropy department as needed.
Research and implement innovations in writing for fundraising, engagement, and marketing.
Serve as a resource for best practices on writing for fundraising and marketing and for different channels, including direct mail, email, and social media.
Champion a high-quality donor experience in all donor communications, engagement opportunities, and events.
Work with a high degree of independence to meet and exceed annual goals on time and on budget.

Act as an ambassador of the Animal Humane Society both internally and externally.Is knowledgeable of all aspects of AHS in order to provide needed information to supporters, donors, clients, and the community.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Minimum 3-5 years writing experience for a variety of channels, including direct mail, email, web, and social media; experience writing for fundraising or marketing preferred.
Strong computer skills, including use of the computer as a management tool.
Knowledge of and experience with Blackbaud products including: Raiser’s Edge, Luminate/Convio and TeamRaiser preferred.
Persuasive and strategic communicator with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated success in working independently and as part of a team.

Able to adapt and succeed in a fast-paced work environment, handling fluctuation priorities and multiple projects, and meet deadlines under pressure.Strong organizational skills essential.

Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of euthanasia.
