EQT currently has opportunities available for 2018 Business Analyst interns. The EQT Energy Summer Internship is a 12-week program that offers students the opportunity to work with one of the country’s largest natural gas producers. The EQT Energy Business Analyst Intern will provide assistance to the Trading and Scheduling groups in commercial efforts to monetize EQT production volumes.



  • Build and maintain detailed financial models to analyze trading positions and exposure;
  • Utilize ETRM system to track volumes, prices, counterparties, locations of sales/purchases, transportation assets, and storage assets resulting from both physical and financial transactions;
  • Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of commercial trading reports including forward positions, hedging structures, mark-to-market results, transportations spreads, and trading volumes;
  • Assist in scheduling functions including analysis of internal/external curtailment data and reconciling production actuals across several gathering systems;
  • Utilizing relevant experience, enhance the Fundamentals Team’s forward‑looking natural gas production forecast, with an emphasis on Appalachia coupled with insights regarding other regions in which EQT has commercial relationships & interdependencies
  • Monitor and evaluate relevant market conditions, identifying profitable price‑directional, trade‑actionable opportunities
  • Update and maintain electronic dashboards with commercial content for use by executives, management and traders;
  • Provide analytical support for the company on a broad range of topics;
  • Help to construct a supply & demand model, knowledge of specific logistical constraints, flows, costs, storage, contracts, end users and scheduling


Required Skills:

  • Strong Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint skills

  • Ability to create and use financial models

  • Ability to apply theoretical models in problem solving & forecasting business objectives

  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly grasp and assess business goals and financial issues

  • Basic knowledge of statistical analysis

  • Effective communication skills



    Required Experience:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, business, economics, engineering or a closely related field

  • Related work or classroom experience that demonstrates quantitative skills and an ability to perform a variety of financial and strategic analyses

  • Knowledge and experience in the natural gas industry especially as it relates to natural gas trading and scheduling is preferred

  • Experience with Bloomberg, Cognos, and/or Microsoft SharePoint is a plus
