POSITION DESCRIPTION ABOUT THE PROJECTS

In the past two years, WSP Ottawa has been awarded three significant projects in the National Capital Region (NCR) Centre-Block Rehabilitation Project (CENTRUS), Stage 2 OLRT (CLE) and Energy Services Acquisition Program (ESAP). Those projects, combined with our regular business, has created numerous opportunities within the WSP Ottawa team.

We are actively searching for a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a strategic role in any of these three projects and WSP as a whole.

The Senior Electrical Engineer/Project Manager will be working with the Manager, and Director of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, this position will be responsible for engineering project work from conceptual design through to completion on a wide variety of complex projects, including project management responsibilities.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will lead and manage the delivery of the electrical design and multi-disciplinary projects from preliminary design through construction documents and contract administration phases.
  • You will be the Engineer of Record for electrical systems for institutional, transportation, alternative energy systems and other public/private facilities projects.
  • You have the ability and experience to manage the project deliverables to meet financial targets and schedule.
  • You are capable of supervising the work of Engineers, Designers and Revit Technicians appointed to the projects.
  • Will you provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff
  • Positively develop staff as demonstrated by their ability to take on more complex technical challenges
  • Review, complete design calculations, and construction documents by applicable Codes, Standards and Regulations.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent recognized by Canadian licensing authorities) and eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario (P. Eng).
  • Ten or more years of relevant experience in electrical systems for buildings within the engineering consulting industry.  
  • Experience leading or managing a design team
  • LEED AP BD+C and PMP certification considered an asset.
  • Expert knowledge of applicable codes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior communication, organization, leadership and presentation skills;
  • Computer knowledge in MS Office, REVIT and distribution system analysis software;
  • You aspire for more and want to develop into a Project Manager or Technical Lead.
