Overview of the opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a Project Manager to join our Geotechnical Materials Inspection and Testing team Key activities will be to oversee project technical staff, meet client expectations, prepare bids/proposals/reports, and engage in effective business development practices to support and grow the business.

What you can expect to do here:

  • You will prepare bids, proposals, and reports for a variety of geotechnical materials and inspection projects;
  • You will develop solid business relations with both external and internal clients and promote the growth of the business line;
  • You will be responsible for managing scope, schedule, budget and client relationships;
  • You will troubleshoot technical issues for field staff
  • You will coordinate staff on a project basis;
  • You will optimize work tasks of project team and prepare technical reports;
  • You will promote positive and effective health and safety practices and ensure that standards and requirements are being met;
  • You will review, communicate, and manage project health and safety plan so that project personnel, client and subcontractors are aware of risks and hazards, and accidents are prevented;
  • You may perform additional responsibilities as needed to ensure effective client relations;
  • Other duties as assigned.
 

What you'll bring to WSP:

  • You'll bring a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • You might bring your registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario;
  • Your intermediate level of experience in the consulting industry and managing projects dealing directly with clients (may include some post-graduate studies);
  • You are able to manage the risk of damages or deformation likely to be caused by the construction;
  • You have experience preparing proposals and bids to general contractors/other engineering firms;
  • You are familiar with risk management principles;
  • You have demonstrated experience with a variety of clients including Municipal, Government Agencies, Private Developers and;
  • Your Ability to be innovative and solve problems, while mitigating risk;
  • You have strong time and people management skills;
  • You are committed to superb client service and process improvement;
  • Your eagerness and flexibility to work on a wide variety of activities at all levels as requested;
  • Your willingness to travel and spend time on project sites during critical stages;
  • You have excellent written and verbal English communication.
