WSP is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical/Plumbing Engineer to join our Mechanical & Electrical Department, located at our Markham office. Reporting to the Manager, Mechanical this position will be responsible to prepare calculation, conceptual and detail design, technical specification, installation details, AutoCAD / MicroStation and Revit software, permit / tender / post-tender services on various transportation projects, and perform contract admin (CA) services to review shop drawings, RFI’s, etc.
Working with some of the sharpest minds in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, you will play an integral role in helping to create and craft exceptional designs and deliver outstanding projects to clients related to (but not exclusive to) the Rail & non-Rail Transportation sectors.

Design, load calculation, technical specification for Plumbing, Sanitary System, Strom Water System, Natural Gas Piping, Fire Protection and Sprinkler systems, HVAC, and hydronic piping for transportation projects, majorly for GO Metrolinx and TTC;
Thorough knowledge of Design/Build (DB) or Design/Build/Finance/Maintenance (DBFM) type projects to lead the transportation projects from pursuit to construction. Transportation project to include but not limited to: above ground and below ground station design, platform design, airport terminals, subway design, LRT, Bus garage, and MSF facilities;
Preparing contract document and working with PM and other Sr. Engineers, as well as intermediate engineers, designers and modelers;
Thorough knowledge of plumbing system design, pipe sizing, sanitary and storm system design and pumping, natural gas PRS, dry and wet preaction sprinkler system and clean agent fire suppression system design;
Complete understanding of building mechanical engineering requirement, Ontario Building Code (OBC), ASHRAE, ASPE, NFPA, and CSA standards for building and site design. Familiar with GO Metrolinx DRM, PSOS, PA, and TTC design manual and specifications;
Perform individually or as a team member with under direct supervision of PM or group manager;
Extensive experience of project management, operation, finance, resourcing, and reporting to help the PM and operation manager.
Other duties as assigned/required.
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering and registered P.Eng. with PEO; (EGBC, APEGA is a plus); with minimum 20 years’ of experience designing mechanical systems for transportation, commercial, and industrial projects including but not limited to: Sanitary, Storm, Potable Water, hydronic heating and cooling, hydronic snow melting and infloor heating, natural gas piping, compressed air, various sprinkler systems, clean agent fire suppression system, tunnel ventilation, and familiarity with BAS architecture from unit level to network;
Experience with utility companies, authorities having jurisdiction, applicable codes and standards such as OBC, IEEE, CSA, and OESC;
Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skill with team members and other disciplines. Detail oriented, organized, hard worker, and team player;
Strong Project Management skills, PMP is a plus;
Familiarity with software used for mechanical engineering such as HAP/Tracer, duct and pipe sizing, and equipment selection;
