NORTH VANCOUVER

WSP is currently seeking a motivated Intermediate Engineer to join their Water and Wastewater, Infrastructure group, located at our North Vancouver or Kelowna office (based on candidate preference).  Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, Water and Wastewater this position will be responsible working collaboratively to deliver multi-disciplinary municipal water and wastewater treatment engineering projects across Western Canada. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to bring innovative solutions to a broad range assignments, gain client and industry exposure, and participate in and lead high performing multi-disciplinary teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work well in a team environment to develop innovative design and planning solutions and manage interactions with other team members;

  • Work effectively with, and coordinate the efforts of, multi-disciplinary engineering team members including civil, process, mechanical, electrical, climate adaptation and structural disciplines;

  • Provide technical design and planning for civil infrastructure at and around water and wastewater facilities;

  • Prepare analyses, reports, designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, presentations, and reports as required;

  • Develop and strengthen existing skills and deliver engineering projects in accordance with client requirements and in line with company and industry best practice;

  • Construction management, contract administration, and field reviews for projects under construction;

  • Support project managers as a project coordinator, including attending meetings, completing records of discussions, risk logs, decision logs, earned value analyses and project status reports;

  • Monitor and maintain performance within programs and expenditures within budgets for all projects;

  • Assist with proposal writing and client development;

  • Through working as a member of the engineering team, promote the negotiation of work with clients as a consultant of choice;

  • Develop and maintain a network of technical/professional support within WSP and the industry; and

  • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree from an accredited University specializing in civil engineering.Experience in water and wastewater infrastructure is preferred;

  • Registration in good standing as a P.Eng. in British Columbia, or eligibility to be registered;

  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in municipal engineering;

  • High level of initiative, motivation, drive, energy and enthusiasm to get the job done;

  • Ability to work effectively and competently with people at all levels in the organisation; is a great team member;

  • Ability to work under supervision; effective time management and strong organisational skills;

  • Innovation and willingness to explore new technologies for water and wastewater systems;

  • Ability to work with Project Managers and Technical staff located in offices across WSP;

  • Contribute to maintaining a sustainable and positive work environment;

  • Computer literate; proficient in Microsoft Office applications;

  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail;

  • High ethical standards in parallel with WSP Corporate Policy, Vision, Mission and Values; and

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
