We currently have a career opportunity for an Indirect Tax Manager in our State and Local Tax practice to work on multiple and challenging tax engagements and to contribute to the delivery of innovative sales and use tax planning ideas for our diverse clients. Weaver’s Indirect Tax Practice provides the knowledge, experience, resources, and processes to bridge the gap between what is expected of a company’s tax department and its current capacity. In addition to having depth of technical knowledge and experience, our professionals are knowledgeable about the business challenges companies are facing and how those challenges affect a company’s state and local tax position.
Indirect Tax Managers have in-depth, first-hand experience in a wide range of industries. They draw on experience in accounting and taxation to provide consulting services to corporate clients. Indirect Tax Managers identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Indirect Tax Managers’ primary responsibilities include working on complex Indirect tax audits, managed audits, and recovery of tax overpayments (reverse audits), preparing complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries; researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues and tax implications. Indirect Tax Managers lead projects and a team of Indirect Tax professionals. Our Indirect Tax Managers are tasked with developing our Associates and Senior Associates in tax technical and client facing skillsets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Develop and deliver quality tax planning approaches with timely and responsive services and work products that meet and/or exceed client expectations.
Manage the work of client service team members.
Knowledge of managing projects including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence and billing preferred.
Demonstrate an understanding of complex tax concepts and applicability to client situations.
Excellent research and writing skills.
Ability to draft various state filings, such as petitions for redetermination, refund claims, and various other administrative remedy filings.
Travel may be required. Trips may be required with minimal notice.
Requirements include the following:
Requires at least four (4+) years of related work experience, preferably within the Big 4 or an equivalent firm or industry.
Requires Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other business related field.
CPA certification, CMI, Member of the Bar, or other industry credential.
Broad exposure to state and local taxation.
Excellent managerial, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
Corporate Compliance Responsibilities:
Understands and adheres to the policies and procedures compliance standards as set forth by Weaver and Tidwell, LLP. Ensure that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
