About you:

We are looking for a self-motivated and entrepreneurial Senior Manager/Director of IP Strategy capable of analyzing patent portfolios, managing competitive intelligence programs, supporting IP business development and sales and completing patent acquisition transactions.


Your responsibilities:

  • Analyze patent portfolios for gaps and identify strategies to fill gaps through internal development or acquisition of patents
  • Perform in-house IP analytics using advanced search and analysis software and other technical research databases to assess licensing, partnering or acquisition opportunities
  • Research, screening and strategic alignment of patent portfolios with business objectives for growth
  • Manage competitive intelligence programs by monitoring patent filings, product announcements and technical literature for input into intellectual property development strategies
  • Manage a small team to support IP business development and sales
  • Identify possible patent portfolios for acquisition and negotiate and complete acquisition transactions
  • Develop strategic pathways for future growth and opportunity aligned with business objective


Our ideal candidate:

  • Strong IP-specific financial acumen
  • Skilled with reviewing patent portfolios and strength assessment, both internal and external, and impact to the market
  • Skilled at strategic thinking
  • Basic engineering skills with electrical engineering background and software experience
  • Good interpersonal skills – ability to communicate and negotiate internally and externally
  • Good managerial skills – set goals, create plan, secure proper resources, execute plan
  • Experience with database searching and with interpreting and analyzing results.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and a demonstrated ability to analyze patent art and to explain such analysis at a high level
  • Proprietary search databases usage including Orbit, Lexis, and US, European & Asian patent office search tools/engines


Desirable Skills:

  • Expertise in management of contracts and legal matters
  • Expertise in global patent prosecution strategies
  • Registered to practice before the USPTO Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines
  • Sound judgement even in ambiguous situations
  • Deeply analytical, self-motivated, self-motivated, meticulous and well-versed individual who possesses a thorough knowledge of technical subject matter as well as a comprehensive knowledge of patent laws and regulations validity of patents and infringement assessments
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in communicating business and legal issues to a wide variety of audiences, eg, engineers, business leaders and legal professionals at all levels of the organization.



  • BSEE/MSEE preferred
  • 10+ years of IP experience
  • 10+ years of experience in IP monetization
  • Extensive experience in portfolio mining and analysis as well as IP due diligence
  • JD a plus
