Sun Pharma is seeking a Director of Intellectual Property that will support generic and branded therapy areas.  The ideal candidate will join a highly effective team in managing all aspects of intellectual property.  We are looking for a candidate who not only is responsible for their individual projects, but can also make valuable contributions at a group level.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct due diligence on potential mergers and acquisitions and freedom-to-operate assessments that drive strategic acquisitions and product development;
  • Collaborate with counsel on a variety of clients within the business on IP and other legal issues;
  • Interact with and provide legal and strategic guidance to senior management and other functional organizational leadership;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including negotiating, preparing and reviewing research and development agreements, settlement agreements, confidentiality agreements, license agreements, and consulting agreements and counseling the business regarding IP transactional matters;
  • Efficiently manage patents, trademarks and coexistence agreements
  • IP Review, clearance or promotional materials and scientific publications

Required Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from accredited law school and admitted to a US state bar in good standing;
  • USPTO registration in good standing preferred;
  • Strong academic background;
  • BS in engineering or science preferred;
  • Law firm and in-house experience preferred
  • Requirements for Counsel: must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in-house or at a law firm working as a patent attorney, with progressively more work experience counseling clients on intellectual property issues; including patent, copyright and trademarks
  • Substantial experience with negotiating and drafting intellectual property agreements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal, facilitation, presentation, quantitative, analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and strategic thinking;
  • Ability to understand and comply with applicable government regulations and company operating procedures, processes, policies, and tasks.
