Our Garden Segment is searching for an Assistant Lab Manager in our Greenfield, MO location.

Measures of Success

  • Ensure that all testing implementing is conducted according to lab policy and in accordance to the AOSA Rules and established procedures.

  • Participate in an active role in all aspects of the seed lab. This would include all practical testing that we implement.

  • Become familiar with and able to use the SAP - Seed Analysis Program.

  • Trouble shoot and monitor irregularities in seed or seedling testing results, media, temperatures, equipment, etc.

  • Train directly with Seed Lab manager, to actively prepare for 2 years as an understudy to attain status of RST - Registered Seed Technologist.

  • Expand knowledge and professionalism in seed technology by participating in in-house continuing education, enrolling in relevant course-work, and attending workshops/seed schools.

  • Ensure quality and confidentiality of company information.

  • Assist lab manager as needed, including filling in during the lab manager's absence. At these times, you would be supervisor over the lab staff.

  • Adhere to company safety rules and regulations.

  • Work with a teamwork approach, demonstrating professional ethics.

Ideal Candidate Attributes

  • Degree in Agriculture or Biological Science.

  • Agricultural background preferred.

  • Must be well organized, pay attention to detail and work with small objects.

  • Able to work with magnification, microscopes, razor blades, probes, and all related seed testing equipment.

  • Able to participate in our seed purchasing/harvest program. This requires extended hours/days.

  • Occasional lifting of sample boxes, seed probing of harvest trucks, and other miscellaneous physical work that may arise.

  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and have good communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
