WSP is currently seeking a motivated Intermediate Engineer to join their Water and Wastewater, Infrastructure group, located at our Kelowna office.  Reporting to the Branch Manager, Water and Wastewater this position will be responsible working collaboratively to deliver multi-disciplinary municipal wastewater collection and treatment engineering projects across Western Canada. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to bring innovative solutions to a broad range assignments, gain client and industry exposure, and participate in and lead high performing multi-disciplinary teams.


  • Work well in a team environment to develop innovative design and planning solutions, manage interactions with other team members and monitor junior staff;
  • Work effectively with, and coordinate the efforts of, multi-disciplinary engineering team members including civil, process, mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines;
  • Plan and design wastewater collection and treatment infrastructure to the applicable regulations;
  • Provide technical advisory services to clients for wastewater collection and treatment, management of residual solids, and recovery of resources;
  • Prepare analyses, reports, designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, presentations, and reports as required;
  • Develop and strengthen existing skills and deliver engineering projects in accordance with client requirements and in line with company and industry best practice;
  • Project management, contract administration, and field reviews for projects under construction;
  • Develop and practice project management skills and liaise with and manage clients as required. Maintain a high standard of customer satisfaction by ensuring that project outputs meet client expectations, and ensure that clients are fully consulted and apprised of progress, issues, and related solutions at key project stages;
  • Monitor and maintain performance within programs and expenditures within budgets for all projects;
  • Assist with proposal writing and client development;
  • Through working as a member of the Engineering team, promote the negotiation of work with clients as a consultant of choice;
  • Develop and maintain a network of technical/professional support within WSP and the industry; and
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree from an accredited University specializing in wastewater treatment, is preferred;
  • Registration in good standing as a P.Eng. in British Columbia, or eligibility to be registered;
  • Minimum 8 years of engineering experience in municipal wastewater treatment;
  • High level of initiative, motivation, drive, energy and enthusiasm to get the job done;
  • Ability to work effectively and competently with people at all levels in the organisation; is a great team member;
  • Ability to work under supervision; effective time management and strong organisational skills;
  • Innovation and willingness to explore new technologies for water and wastewater systems;
  • Ability to work with Project Managers and Technical staff located in offices across WSP;
  • Contribute to maintaining a sustainable and positive work environment;
  • Computer literate; proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail;
  • High ethical standards in parallel with WSP Corporate Policy, Vision, Mission and Values; and
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
