POSITION DESCRIPTION

WSP is currently seeking a Designer to join our Municipal Roads Department, located at our Thornhill office.  Reporting to the department manager the successful applicant will work on a wide variety of projects that include preparing drawings, plans, designs, maps, graphs, and other related material.  This position requires the individual to be team focused as well as independent and able to take initiate.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with project managers on a variety of projects;
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed drawings, designs and plans;
  • Review of designs, drawings, calculations, and computer lighting analysis;
  • Perform calculations, assessments and inspections;
  • Prepare reports and other project related documentation;
  • Assist with preparing presentation materials and proposals;
  • Some field work may be required;
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in a Civil Engineering program from an accredited university;
  • Eligible for professional licensing with PEO is an asset;
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft products is required;
  • Experience with Microstation, InRoads and Civil 3D is an asset;
  • Knowledge of MTO standards and specifications is an asset;
  • 3-5 yrs of industry related experience
  • Excellent technical, analytical writing and presentation skills;
  • Great communication skills, both verbally and written;
  • Desire to take on new challenges.
