The Personnel and Payroll Systems Division (PPSD)is responsible for the continual development of a large-scale federal payroll/personnel system (FPPS) as well as its web components and the repository system such as the FPPS Datamart, an in-house developed data warehouse.

Technatomy is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Software Administrator) for the branch responsible for System Administration. Under general supervision, this person will be responsible for the administration and ezPIV liaison with internal and external customers. Supporting a wide array for application technologies and server architectures (Windows and RHEL).


POSITION DESCRIPTION (Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Software Administrator (migrations, log audits, java upgrades, task scheduler events and automation)
  • Documentation and creation of Standard Operating Procedures
  • Coordinate with project managers and technical staff on implementation of new functionality of delivering a secure file transfer solution to external customers
  • Schedule installations and upgrades for hardware and software
  • Manipulate or create task scheduler events or edit bash scripts
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge within the TSMB Systems Administration (SA) section for application expertise (Shell, Linux, Resource Access Control Facility - Secure Shell, Shell Scripting, Windows server Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Unix and Linux Shell, bash scripting, software methodologies
  • Apply IT Principles to analytical methods and procedures to research, troubleshoot, and resolve problems
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to become the Technical Contact and Lead for the ezPIV Card Client Deployment
  • Project Lead for a DOI-Mandated Multi-Factor Authentication to access DOI Applications; WebFPPS, Bluezone, OBIEE, and WTTS
  • Coordinate with DOI and Non-DOI Users for installation, training, and registration to the ezPIVCard Client and provide operational support
  • Responder for WebFPPS and QuickSAR Servers and Applications concerning Plans of Action & Milestones management (POA&M)
  • Develops and promotes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) 


  • Experience with Windows and Linux environments
  • Knowledge of POA&M processing or vulnerability patching
  • Experience deploying and configuring web applications on Tomcat platforms
  • Familiarity with basic text processing and software development tools, e.g. version control systems (preferably with applications such as QuickSAR/ServiceNow)
  • Experience with SFTP applications such as Secure Transport
  • Experience with or ability to quickly learn Bash scripting
  • Ability to create simple scripting tools
  • Simple understanding of Oracle and TomCat
  • Understanding of basic system automation
  • Familiarity with network load balancing and firewalls
  • Understanding of how to monitor services on production servers
  • Ability to be on call

Education (Minimum Requirements):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and 5 years of experience
