About FirstLine Schools


In 1998, FirstLine Schools started the first charter school in New Orleans. FirstLine now operates four K-8th grade schools and a high school.  Our mission is to create and inspire great open admissions public schools in New Orleans. We do this by:

About FirstLine’s Special Education Leadership Fellows (SELF) Program:


SELF seeks to build the special education talent pipeline starting with school middle leaders as the key driver of creating outstanding special education programming in schools. Targeting current and aspiring special education coordinators, this program accelerates their development and impact through an intensive two year fellowship of trainings, coaching, professional learning communities, peer reviews and visits to exemplary programs. The mission of SELF is to improve the quality of special education programs by developing the skills of Special Education Coordinators.


Position Summary:


The Program Director is responsible for the strategic management and operations of the SELF program with a focus on branding, marketing and recruitment and selection of Fellows.


Position Responsibilities:


Branding and Marketing

  • Designs and oversees the branding and marketing plan of the SELF program ensuring that high quality candidates are attracted and selected


Training and Development

  • Delivers quality training to all stakeholders

  • Manages relationships with current participants and alumni

  • Manage and develops Leadership Coaches

  • Support Leadership Coaches with Complex Cases

  • Create systems for artifact development

  • Create and support development of rubrics and framework

  • Ensure all professional development is of quality and relevant to stakeholders

  • Assist Executive Director with expanding SELF’s consultative services in New Orleans and Baton Rouge


Recruitment and Selection

  • Builds referral partnerships to ensure high quality candidates are referred and recruited to the program

  • Oversees selection and recruitment by managing process, selection rubrics and selection committees and days

  • Oversees data collection and analysis on recruitment and selection

  • Other duties as assigned


Education & Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Master’s degree preferred, though not required

  • Extensive experience leading quality high level trainings to educators and school leaders (3 or more years)

Physical Requirements:


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear.

  • Light lifting of equipment may be required (up to 20 lbs.)


SELF PROGRAM DIRECTOR reports to:  Executive Director of SELF


This position is Full Time.
