Position Summary

 

The  Cooking Class Teacher is responsible for teaching students in grades 4 – 8 the basics of healthy cooking and eating.  The class takes place in the school cafeteria kitchen from 3:00pm – 5:15pm twice weekly.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead classes while maintaining strong classroom management skills
  • Remain knowledgeable about kitchen and food safety
  • Remain engaged and knowledgeable about seasonal produce and coordinate with the school gardener to integrate garden harvest into cooking class
  • Posses some knowledge of vegetarian recipes
  • Create lesson plans that use health conscious recipes
  • Submit supply list on a weekly basis for planned recipes
  • Responsible for leaving the kitchen clean (with student assistance) after each class

 

Education & Experience:

 

  • Experience with elementary students highly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Physical Requirements:

 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear.
  •  Light lifting of equipment may be required (up to 20 lbs.)
