Description

 

Basic Functions

To provide effective leadership, direction and supervision to a crew of hourly employees to safely and efficiently execute their work assignments.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise the safe execution of work performed by the crew through utilizing the Supervisor Standard Work.

  • Appropriately allocate resources and brief daily work to your crew from the daily/weekly planned schedule and break-in work list if required.

  • Monitor and inspect the quality of completed work assignments.

  • Ensures all department work is performed in a safe manner and that all work areas are maintained to meet or exceed all MSHA standards.

  • Promotes and encourages teamwork and high performance standards throughout the department, provide feedback to employees on their progress, and implement disciplinary measures as necessary.

  • Ensure employee compliance to corporate, property and departmental policies and standard work procedures, and the collective bargaining agreement.

  • Coordinate and facilitate departmental training needs, and encourage and assist in employee development.

  • Set plant-wide operations priorities in cooperation with operating and maintenance personnel.

  • Consistently demonstrate and act in accordance with Cliffs Core Values.

 

Position Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent, required.  Two - Four year technical degree or equivalent, preferred.

  • Experience managing/supervising in a similar role.  Supervising in a mining or mineral processing operation, preferred.

  • Schedule Demands:  Must work alternate schedules that may include shift work, early mornings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays and be punctual while doing so.

  • Must be a leader who is self-motivated, a team player and results driven.  

  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
