Description

 

POSITION:                            MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - DIESEL

 

LOCATION:                          BABBITT

           

AREA:                                    TRUCK SHOP

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Upkeep and maintenance of mine wide mobile equipment fleet, consisting of loading, haulage, and all support equipment.

 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Two year degree with certification in diesel mechanics or equivalent applicable experience is required.

  • Must be proficient in troubleshooting and repair of diesel and gasoline powered equipment.

  • Must have previous small fleet automotive experience.

  • Must be proficient at welding in three positions.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Able to read and interpret schematics, parts books, and technical manuals.

  • Willing to work varying shifts on a rotating schedule and overtime as needed.

  • Demonstrated safe working practices and excellent safety record.

  • Excellent attendance record.

  • Applicant must achieve a satisfactory score on the NSM Diesel Maintenance Assessment Test at the next available assessment testing date.

  • Knowledge of Ellipse required.

  • Must be computer savvy to troubleshoot equipment with laptop computers.

  • Preference given to those with prior heavy equipment hydraulics troubleshooting and repair experience, and those with prior work experience in the Mine Truck Shop.
