Basic Functions

This position is responsible for overseeing all procurement activities that occur at the Operation, including specific sourcing initiatives. The position will require significant communication and coordination with Operations, Maintenance, Warehousing, Inventory Control, and Finance. The manager is responsible for continually working to improve internal customer service while reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of purchased products and services. Further functions include promoting efficiency in transactional workload, managing supplier performance and relationships and coaching Procurement staff in professional development. 


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Buying responsibility for assigned commodities and services.

  • Oversee product commodity sourcing strategies to achieve material cost reduction targets.

  • Oversee local procurement activities including procurement of items for inventory and direct requirements.

  • Ensure the utilization of preferred delivery programs (vendor held, keep-fill, consignment, etc.)

  • Review direct purchases on a proactive basis to identify candidates to be added to the ERP catalog.

  • Automate the procure-to-pay process through Ellipse functionality.

  • Ensure items set to bypass purchasing meet the procedural selection criteria.

  • Manage long-range procurement plans and strategies for commodities managed at the Operations.

  • Review and approve Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Quote/Proposal (RFQ/P) for higher dollar commodities.

  • Ensure organizational financial goals are met, including budget and savings.

  • Establish, track, and evaluate the costs, benefits, and performance criteria for all Supply Chain activities.


    Position Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required

  • 5-7 years Procurement, Sourcing, Warehousing, or related function experience

  • CPM, CPSM, CIRM, CPIM preferred

  • Operational/Industry/Supplier knowledge preferred
