Description

Alfred Benesch & Company (Benesch) is a multi-disciplined engineering and professional services firm. Benesch is consistently ranked among the top 500 consulting engineering firms in the United States by Engineering News-Record. We are looking to hire an experienced Structural Project Manager with bridge design/inspection experience to be based out of our Kansas City, KS office. Ideal candidates will hold a PE and/or SE license.

Overview:

This role will primarily include the design and management of bridge/transportation projects. Structural design projects may involve vertical facility design. In addition, the role will likely involve bridge inspection, load ratings, and asset management related services.

Qualifications include:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering degree required
  • Minimum of 8 years of strong bridge design and plan production background experience including Project Management responsibility
  • PE and/or SE License required
  • Thorough experience and knowledge of KDOT/MODOT Bridge Standards
  • Strong understanding and familiarity with steel/concrete design software
  • Established relationships with DOT’s and contractors
  • Willingness to take leadership and mentoring role to junior staff
  • Willingness to participate in business development and outreach tasks
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written - emails, project memos, reports, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Positive attitude and good work ethic

Additional qualifications not required but preferred:

  • Recent completion of one or more of the following FHWA-NHI courses:
    • Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges
    • Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges
    • Bridge Inspection Refresher Training
  • Other training in scour analysis and design, stream stability, fracture critical members, especially AWS, ASNT, confined space, certified climbing, and quality control of reports a plus
  • Ability to work outside on foot for extended periods of time including fieldwork around bridges
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to project sites, sometimes out-of-town
  • Good driving record and valid driver's license
