Description

Alfred Benesch & Company (Benesch) is a multi-disciplined engineering and professional services firm. Benesch is consistently ranked among the top 500 consulting engineering firms in the United States by Engineering News-Record. We are looking to hire a Traffic Designer to be based out of our Kansas City, KS office. We offer opportunities to work on a variety of transportation planning and traffic engineering projects for both municipal and state agency clients. Ideal candidates will hold an Engineer-In-Training certification, with aspirations of obtaining PE license and PTOE certification.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform traffic data collection tasks
  • Perform basic traffic engineering analysis
  • Assist with traffic engineering studies
  • Assist with developing traffic engineering design plans
  • Compute quantities and demonstrate awareness of relationships to bid items
  • Review mathematical calculations prepared by others and organize calculations to be included in design file, following project standards and as assigned
  • Develop task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner
  • Perform tasks on schedule and within budget as assigned
  • Work independently under the guidance of a Project Engineer

Qualifications include:

  • BS in civil engineering or related discipline required
  • EIT certification highly preferred, with desire to obtain PE and PTOE in future
  • Related transportation engineering internship and/or work experience desired, but not required
  • Basic knowledge of traffic engineering software (Highway Capacity Manual, Synchro or other traffic software)
  • Basic understanding and use of AutoCAD or Microstation
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written – e-mail, project memos, reports, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment
