Description

We have a unique career opportunity for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer with bridge design/inspection experience to lead our Structural Group in our Denver, Colorado office. Ideal candidates will hold a PE or SE; and have a history of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously with a multi-disciplined team, along with a track record of successfully leading business development efforts that result in project wins to support growing our backlog and our staff.

Overview:

This position will report directly to the Division Manager and be responsible to lead, develop and expand the bridge design and bridge inspection service line in our Denver Colorado Office. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Development and growth of the Structural Group
    • Lead successful business development effort to grow backlog
    • Effectively manage staff (hiring,  mentoring)
    • Effective project oversight that results in quality projects and services completed on schedule and within budget
  • Preparation and implementation of the Structural Group’s annual business plan
  • Preparation of Proposals
  • Mentoring of assigned staff
  • Assure that Project Managers within the group are meeting quality, budget and schedule requirements. 
  • Serve as Project Manager on Major Projects
  • Serve as the Quality Assurance Reviewer on multiple projects managed by PM’s assigned to you 
  • Review and verify project status reports, project monitor reports and project staffing
  •  Review and verify documentation for out‐of-scope work prepared by PM’s prior to submittal
  • Review and verify scopes of work, budgets and schedules prepared by Project Managers
  • Assure that Project Managers perform all other contract management duties 
  • Monitor professional development of assigned staff to ensure continuous improvement, 
  • Review and approve requests for vacation, attendance at seminars, purchase requests, professional dues, etc.
  • Complete professional development plans for assigned staff and submit  recommendations for salary adjustments, promotions or other actions 
  • Participate in value planning and value engineering workshops for assigned projects 
  • Review and verify indirect expense reports of assigned staff

Qualifications include:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering degree required, MS in Structural Engineering is a plus
  • PE or SE License required
  • Recent completion of one or more of the following FHWA-NHI courses:
    • Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges
    • Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges
    • Bridge Inspection Refresher Training
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant bridge design and inspection experience, with a strong CDOT bridge design background along with experience working for local government clients.
  • A proven track record of successful business development efforts
  • Experience with meeting coordination and public outreach a plus
  • Demonstrated experience using Bridge Design Software and Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written - emails, project memos, reports, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Positive attitude and good work ethic
