Description

Alfred Benesch & Company (Benesch ) is a multi-disciplined engineering and environmental services firm. Benesch is consistently ranked among the top 500 consulting engineering firms in the United States by Engineering News-Record. We are looking to hire an experienced Railroad Structural Project Engineer to be based out of our Omaha, Nebraska office. The ideal candidate holds a PE license and has experience in the design, rating, or inspection of railroad bridges.

 

Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Researching design options and documenting findings

  • Performing structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience

  • Preparing layout and details of structural/bridge projects

  • Computing quantities with an understanding of pay items, demonstrating an awareness of the relationship to specifications. 

  • Collecting and integrating cost data for use in preparing cost estimates.

  • Field work such as bridge inspections and construction observation

 

Qualifications include:

  • BS in Civil Engineering required

  • PE License required

  • 5 years of structural engineering experience in design, rating, or inspection of railroad bridges preferred

  • Progressive experience with structural design software, MicroStation or similar programs are a plus

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to perform complex analysis and design, including a complete design package

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Willingness to travel to project/work sites as necessary
