Description

* This posting is for students and alumni from the Penn State ASCE Student Chapter Fall Career Fair.

Alfred Benesch & Company (Benesch), is a nationally recognized multi-disciplined civil, structural, geotechnical and environmental engineering firm that has routinely been ranked as a "Go-To Design Firm" by Roads and Bridges magazine one of ENR's MidAtlantic Top Design Firms. We are looking for future entry-level Civil or Structural Design Engineers interested in any of our Pennsylvania offices (Allentown, Hazleton, or Pottsville) to work on roadway, traffic, bridge, and/or bridge inspection projects throughout Pennsylvania.

Entry level position (0-4 years’ experience) with roadway, drainage and/or maintaining traffic design experience a plus. The candidate must have a B.S. in engineering or related discipline. F.E. Certification desired but not required. Experience in AASHTO and PennDOT standards a plus. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collect and assimilate data
  • Conduct design of project elements
  • Draw design details
  • Compute quantities
  • Coordinate drafting of an element
  • Layout a drawing for a specific element
  • Check mathematical calculations
  • Write meeting minutes
  • Write Project Specifications & Reports
  • Assist team by performing miscellaneous design work
  • Organize design & correspondence files

 

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Good grasp of engineering fundamentals
  • Basic knowledge of appropriate software
  • Basic knowledge of applicable codes & standards
  • Basic understanding and use of CADD
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office products
  • Basic writing skills
  • Aptitude to work independently
