The Safety and Security Coordinator (SSC) is a full-time safety and security professional with experience in safety and security.  The SSC supports management in developing and implementing a safety and security program in accordance with company policy, client expectations and regulatory standards.   

The SSC provides technical support regarding safety and security programs such as:  conducting training; procuring PPE in accordance with plans, developing and approving hazard analyses within the requirements of approved plans, investigating incidents, documenting compliance using inspections, audits and industrial hygiene sampling; evaluating employee safety and security concerns; conducting safety meetings; developing specified health and safety submittals. 

Via the chain of command, keeps department and operational management informed of activities in support of project programs, project safety and security performance, and changes in conditions which might have an impact on established hazard controls.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Answers/monitors/gathers all initial information for incidents.Investigates claims and develops action plans.

  • Maintains OSHA logs.

  • Orders all safety supplies, maintain safety records and reports for OSHA and WC.

  • Develops physical plant security plans, maintains reporting as requested by operating companies.

  • Coordinates training for employees and vendors.

  • Foster opportunities to improve performance regarding safety and security.

  • Responsible for appropriate response to security breaches and violation of protocols.

  • Create emergency response procedures.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced computer skills – Word, Excel, Power point

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to provide critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Must possess strong organizational & management skills, attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines

  • Must possess ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting quality standards

  • Strong commitment to security rules and knowledge of all hazards and threats to safety


Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of results-oriented relevant experience is required in safety preferably with a construction based background

  • A baccalaureate degree in a related discipline.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
