Washington Corporations is looking for a detailed oriented Graphic/Web Designer to assist with projects over a 12 month period, with the potential to extend.  The Graphic/Web Designer will work with our talented design team working with the Washington Companies in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment. As a Graphic/Web Designer on this team, you will be responsible for both the print and digital experience, combining art and technology to communicate ideas through a variety of creative digital projects.

Our team is critical to our success, and you will need to be able to participate in a free exchange of ideas and give and receive creative feedback to be an effective member of this team. Additionally, the role requires you to handle varying types of requests. Some will require quick turnaround while others will allow for deeper creative emersion.  Understanding what level of design to apply to different requests, based on need and impact, will be a critical part of day-to-day prioritization. 

You must have exceptional multitasking skills, high attention to detail, the ability to work quickly and efficiently, and a passion for learning new trends, techniques, and shortcuts.  We have a mixed-media environment and you will need the drive and talent to produce exceptional work.

‚ÄčThe Graphic/Web Designer  is a one year contract position located in Missoula, Montana. 

To be considered for the Designer role, you must have the following skills:

  • Graphic Design – the ability to work with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, including remaining current in the Graphic Design industry.
  • Web Design – basic understanding and skills of HTML and CSS for online projects.
  • Teamwork – the ability to work with different customers and internal and external creative team members and that will help us deliver our product. 
  • Project Management – managing all the moving pieces, timelines, and resources for multiple projects across the Washington Companies.

Primary Responsibilities

Digital Creative - assist in a variety of digital projects, including large online initiatives (website, portals, social media), physical/digital interaction, brochures, memoranda, online marketing material, invitations and announcements, digital campaigns, other special projects and creative services as needed. 

Corporate Image Assets - help our department catelog all corporate digital assets including all print and electronic files associated with logos, images, videos, collateral, website, historical and other digitally trademarked assets of the Washington Companies.

Corporate Standards and Controls -  help our department leadership communicate, train and enforce corporate standards regarding the use of the Washington Companies brands and logos by approved parties. Provide constructive overall context of the Washington Companies and appropriateness of content and style.  

Project and Time Management – planning, organizing the resources required to complete a specific task.  These required soft skills include analysis (impact of change), communicate effectively, budgeting (preparing it, writing it and monitoring it), teamwork, intelligence (clear vision of all aspects of the project), calmness (working calmly under stressful situations) and good with time management

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in graphic arts, fine arts, information systems or multimedia
  • Minimum 5+ years graphic design work experience preferred including a portfolio of past work

Job Requirements

This is an hourly position, and the number of hours required per week may vary based on project requirements.   Applicant must be willing to work additional or non-standard hours to support delivery of time-critical project deadlines.

The position requires periodic travel to meet and work with our customers, vendors, and partners in the United States, Canada and possibly abroad. A passport for international travel must be maintained during your employment and candidate must be able to travel to foreign countries.
