POSITION SUMMARY

The Interconnect Engineer takes direction from the Construction/Project Manager in the performance of walking sites to produce Scopes of Work for various projects. General responsibilities include performing solo site walks with engineers and general contractors, as required, and documenting walks to provide accurate SOW drawings and survey forms for review by Construction Managers and CAD. The Interconnect Engineer I reports daily site activity to Construction Managers, Coordinators and the CAD department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

-Performing site walks and producing scopes of work and drawings to plan civil construction

-Documenting and reporting all site walk visits and providing accurate SOW drawings, and survey forms for review by Construction Managers, Coordinators, and CAD

-Providing thoroughly documented packages in a timely manner and reporting completed work

-Submitting applications for service with local power and landline companies

-Performing Power and Telco walks

-Planning and organizing daily activities and workload accordingly

-Representing the company well by maintaining high-quality standards, responding to phone calls and emails promptly

-Performing multiple site visits per week to represent company and customers interests

-Providing professional assistance to co-workers

-Developing and maintaining good relationships with LECs and Wireless carrier operational organizations

-Using expertise and experience to influence and negotiate with LECs

-Identifying potential issues and managing to resolution or escalation

-Organizing and maintaining engineering duties -Performing all duties in accordance with the Vinculums Code of Safe Practices (IIPP)

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

-Prior experience in the wireless telecom industry

-A 2 year degree, or equivalent experience

-Experience working with LECs

-Demonstrated ability to report on daily and weekly progress

-Ability to read schematics and drawings

-Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

-Good computer skills including Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint

-Strong organizational skills and keen eye for detail

-Reliable transportation and willingness to travel

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

-Previous associations with major wireless carriers

-Experience with LEC/OSP civil work

-Some construction experience

-Willingness to travel outside Market area

EXPECTED WORK SCHEDULE

Work schedule is Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL

Travel to work sites and Vinculums offices as needed, ranging from 60-70%. Must be willing to work occasional overtime.

The employee will be required on occasion to climb and work at heights, use a step stool or ladder and need to pick-up and deliver materials to the site. Driving a Class C motor vehicle is also a requirement of this position, and all of the physical demands therein required are applicable.
