Rudolph and Sletten has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Manager in their headquarters in San Carlos, California. The successful candidate is a solution-seeking team member dedicated to an effective Human Resources infrastructure to meet the needs of the business. The Human Resources Manager will collaborate with the Human Resources Director, key leaders and senior management to define the HR strategy and make changes when necessary to promote initiatives that align with corporate culture and values. Must have strong business acumen and experience working in a fast-paced dynamic corporate environment. Must be proactive and exude confidence with strong decision making skills.
General Purpose of the Position
The Human Resources Manager manages the administration of the company policies, procedures and programs. The Human Resources Manager carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: Employee Relations, JD Edwards administration, Performance Management, Compensation, Employment and Recruiting. This positions reports to the Director of Human Resources with a dotted line to the local CEO and Controller.
This position has supervisory responsibility for the HR Administrative staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Advisor to managers to ensure compliance and understanding of company policies and procedures
Assist managers and employees with conflict resolution to ensure consistency in practices
Responsible for employment and compliance relative to regulatory concerns and reporting
Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations regarding employment practices
Provide data and reports from JD Edwards or other resources to assist managers and supervisors with salary and staffing plans
Act as a liaison with our third-party leave of absence administrator, benefits administrator, payroll department and management
Responsible for new hire process to ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures
Conduct and facilitates exit interviews
Process new hire and termination paperwork
Order, update, maintain and distribute to new and existing job sites all required state, federal and local posters i.e. EEO, Workers’ Compensation, Harassment Prevention, Federal and State Labor Law posters, etc.
Coordinate visa/immigration cases and acts as a liaison with the immigration attorney
Participates in other projects as requested
Required Job Skills
Demonstrate current knowledge of federal and state labor laws and other applicable employment laws (EEO, FLSA, FMLA, etc.)
Demonstrate working knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices.
Demonstrate aptitude for HRIS systems to include the ability to design reports as requested
Familiar with unions and collective bargaining in the building construction industry preferred
Demonstrate excellent written and oral communications
Must be a self-starter that can work without independently
Proven ability to make decisions
Must be dependable and diligent in producing error free work product
Ability to effectively assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands
Exercise creativity and resourcefulness in completing tasks accurately in a compressed time frame
Computer Equipment and Software
Advanced knowledge of Windows environment
Advanced skill level with MS Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Outlook
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with HRIS and ERP systems. JD Edwards experience preferred
Strong aptitude for technology and HR systems
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field preferred; a combination of work experience and education will be considered in lieu of degree
PHR or SPHR desired
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Human Resources Manager
Strong Project Management experience required
Supervisory skills to develop and manage a team of 4
Demonstrated skills and experience weighted in Employee Relations, Performance Management, HRIS/ERP systems administration
