We are seeking an experienced HR Director, to be housed in our San Carlos, CA. office, with outstanding people skills to manage our Human Resources department and provide consultation to management on the administration and interpretation of company policies and procedures, staffing, compensation, training and development, and employee relations. This position also oversees the upload and maintenance in JD Edwards (HRIS) of all employee records of employment to include pay, perquisites, benefits, performance, and other activities in accordance with company policies and state and federal regulatory requirements. This position reports to the VP of HR, parent company, with dotted lines to the respective Business Units’ CEO and President.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists managers and employees with employee relations/conflict resolution to ensure fairness and consistency in practices.
Partners with Corporate Headquarters to acquire HR approvals for Related Party Requests, Guaranteed Bonus, Access to terminated employee’s emails, etc.
Maintains responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
Communicates changes in the organization's personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed.
Under the direction of Corporate HR, conducts investigations on litigated and non-litigated complaints. May assist in drafting the Response to a Complaint.
Assists with any Immigration/Visa sponsorships.
Investigates and tracks all internal complaints through to resolution; reports to Corporate HR.
Conducts training on the Affirmative Action Program (AAP) 16 Steps and Harassment Prevention.
Responsible for the administration of the Performance Feedback Program (Engagedly); assists with Career Growth and Training Program and Superintendent Mentor Program.
Assists in leadership of focus group; focus is on Employee Engagement/Retention/Corporate Communications.
Assists management with high level or challenging terminations.
JDE oversight including back-up and audit; provides data and reports from JDE to leadership and corporate as necessary.
Conducts ACA Eligibility Audit (Monthly) and assists with ACA 1095 Reporting.
Assists in preparation of HR Budget.
Participates in other projects upon request.
Required Job Skills

Thorough knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices
Current knowledge of federal and state employment laws e.g. FLSA, FMLA, EEOC
Familiar with unions and collective bargaining preferably in the building construction industry
Strong written and verbal communications

Dependable, consistent, diligent, and thorough
Effective at assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands
Advanced knowledge of Windows environment
Advanced skill level with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook
Strong aptitude for technology and HR Systems
Extensive experience with HRIS, ERP systems and Applicant Tracking systems and workflows with the ability to design reports.
JD Edwards experience preferred
Taleo experience preferred at the Administrator level
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business or related field is preferred.
Minimum 15 years’ experience in Human Resources and 5 years’ experience in a lead role working in a medium to large size company.
Leadership and management experience
Supervisory skills developing and managing a team of 5 or more
Experience in Construction, Real Estate, or related industry preferred
Demonstrated skills and experience in Employee Relations, Performance Management, HRIS/ERP systems administration, and Compliance.
