SUMMARY: Reporting to the Photo Studio Manager, the Photographer is responsible for the day-to-day photography across all brands within the Boardriders portfolio, shooting products in a high volume, in-house eCommerce photography studio.
This position works closely with the Photo Studio Manager, eCommerce, Product and Marketing teams to ensure all assets produced feel elevated, on brand & relevant. The Photographer will be responsible for effective communication, creative problem-solving and successful image delivery on time and within budget.
This role demands a high level of attention to detail and consistency. The ability to work efficiently, accurately, and be self-motivated are expected. Additionally, a strong portfolio, strong technical skills, and great eye for detail is a must.
This role is located in Huntington Beach, CA, USA.
Produce a varied range of in-studio product photography, including on body, flat and on model photography for all brands within the Boardriders portfolio.
Produce high quality and consistently beautiful images, ensuring they are correctly exposed and color accurate.
Ensure all products are lit correctly, efficiently, creatively and in accordance with brand guidelines.
Ensure quality photo assets are delivered to meet post-production deadlines
Provide leadership during shoots to ensure that all parties, including Art Director, models, stylists and other crew members are supported and informed prior to, during and post-shoot.
In the absence of an Art Director/Creative Director on set, make creative decisions that support the Art Director’s vision and direction
Perform quality assurance on all images.
Name at capture and maintain digital asset files while accurately checking off daily shoot lists and uploading to correct channels on a daily basis
Crop and process images within Capture One and output to specific guidelines (when applicable)
Mark up images with clear and informative notes for retouch (when applicable)
Prepare sets, checking that all equipment is functioning and setting up appropriate lighting to match brand guidelines
Responsible for care and upkeep of all studio equipment, props and supplies
Proactively identify challenges in workflow or process and use critical thinking to provide Photo Studio Manager with potential solutions
Understand competitive landscape and current brands’ activities to help create, support, and enhance the creative vision of the Boardriders brands
Mentor and train internal and external team members, including but not limited to: equipment usage, lighting techniques, safety, best practices, industry standards, organization, camera settings, capture software, editing software, continuous and strobe lighting, asset management
Provide additional support as needed, including but not limited to: sample management, steaming, hanging and product styling.
A Bachelors Degree in photography or equivalent experience
3-5 years experience shooting in an eCommerce studio
A strong photography portfolio that demonstrates knowledge and techniques of digital lighting and photography
High technical proficiency with Adobe CC, Capture One
Ability to work well within a team.
Ability to lead and collaborate with a wider team during a photo shoot
Ability to work well to deadlines and under pressure
Sense of urgency in deadline driven environment

Strong desire to learn about and introduce new technology
