Hawkins is looking for an Environmental Specialist to join the Health, Safety & Environmental team at corporate headquarters in Roseville, MN. This individual will help maintain compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, including federal, state, and local agencies. The position is based in company headquarters, but will occasionally visit other Hawkins’ facilities throughout the country.
Prepare and submit accurate and complete environmental reports, responses, permit applications, and agency notifications.
Assist with plant-level compliance efforts for all applicable environmental regulations and programs, including, but not limited to: air permitting and emissions, aboveground storage tanks, EPCRA, industrial stormwater and wastewater, TSCA, waste management.
Collect and analyze samples and data.
Perform site audits and assessments.
Coordinate and deliver employee training.
Assist with emergency response efforts when necessary, and participate in preparing facilities for emergency response situations.
Assist Health & Safety staff with implementing company policies and encouraging safe work practices.
Assist with DHS security requirements, emergency response drills, and other tasks and projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or related field with 2+ years of experience; or equivalent work experience
Excellent verbal and written communication, and time management skills
Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team
Ability to multitask and provide excellent follow-up
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Able to travel up to 25% within the Twin Cities and out-of-state
Able to sit, stand, bend, reach, ascend or descend stairs, and walk for extended periods of time in an office or manufacturing setting, including areas where conditions may include odors, varying temperatures, humidity and moderate levels of noise
Ability to wear PPE such as a respirator and chemical suit
Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
