Research and Data Analysis Intern

Location: Washington, DC

Position Summary

The Intern will assist the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist with database management, background research, and basic analysis for the Emergency Assistance Program. She/he will have the opportunity to gain experience in data management, monitoring and evaluation, and Freedom House methodology. This position is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist for Emergency Assistance Programs.

 

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Current college or graduate student (preferred minimum junior in undergrad)
  • Understanding of statistical basics, especially data integrity
  • Mid-level Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
  • Meticulous attention to detail ESSENTIAL
  • Ability to work with sensitive data discreetly
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English is required; ability to communicate in Arabic, Farsi, French, Russian or Spanish is ideal
  • Knowledge of human rights, democracy and development is preferred

 

 

Some Duties and Responsibilities

  • Survey data management (database maintenance, data cleaning, data entry)
  • Assistance with background research and follow-up with regional specialists and thematic experts regarding discrepancies
  • Basic data analysis (descriptive analysis and data checks)
  • Assist with other related projects as needed
