Westmoreland Academy looking for a One to One Special Education Aide

Are you looking for a career that offers you the opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life by supporting them in overcoming learning barriers?  We are currently seeking Special Education classroom aides who are positive, proactive and want to make a difference by providing 1:1 support to students with Autism who range in age from 5-22 years old.  This individual will be responsible for carrying out daily academic activities as assigned by the teacher, collecting data, implementing behavior support plans, providing behavior management and intervention strategies, and crisis intervention as necessary.  The hours for this position are 8am to 2:30pm. This position may require aides to accompany students on the bus for up to 5 days per week either AM or PM routes for an additional 2 hours per day.

-Must have a minimum of 48 college units

-Some experience in special education is desirable but not necessary

-Will be required to take a CPI (Crisis Intervention) training course

-Willingness to work with students who have aggressive behaviors 

-Willingness to work with students who need bathroom/hygiene support
