Description

Position is in direct support of Missile Software management activities within an Engineering Directorate of an Army project office.  Provides functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development, qualification, and implementation of software systems for missiles, including, but not limited to application software, utility software, development software, and diagnostic software.  Management support is for missile software that is developed, tested and fielded IAW the Army Acquisition Process.  Possess the technical background and skills to provide management support to all phases of missile software design, development, documentation, implementation and test.  Ability to understand missile software interfaces with system platforms and communications networks.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Must have detailed knowledge of modern software development processes and Army Acquisition, to include object-oriented, agile development and use of tools, and how to apply them to software application program development.  Must be capable of providing detailed technical management support for missile software development programs with minimal management supervision.  Must be capable of understanding the translation of operational requirements into detailed software/system requirements.  Must be knowledgeable of the process for integrating COTS products into software/system architectures.  Must have experience with the use of tools and technologies and their application to existing products and processes.  Must have knowledge of "Embedded Systems", firmware, and issues regarding database replication and distribution for distributed systems.  Must be capable of providing sound recommendations to design and development teams, and monitoring progress and productivity through the use of metrics and providing feedback to senior management.  Additionally, must have a general understanding of communications protocols, and be able to quickly understand the Army Technical Architecture guidelines as it applies to the Army Acquisition Process.  Must have knowledge of the current Army software safety processes and procedures.

Knowledge of Army Acquisition process, hardware for computer systems, Knowledge of operating systems for computer systems,

Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related scientific or technical discipline with 15 years’ experience.
