As a Proofpoint Sr. Manager for Threat Detection, you will lead a team of malware and phishing analysts tasked with creating detections for Proofpoint products. This team of dynamic and creative threat researchers is focused on finding malware, understanding how it works and using that knowledge to improve our products. The team creates network IDS detections to detect malicious activity on our customers’ networks. Using a variety of research techniques, threat intelligence, and host and network telemetry, they write detection signatures that help protect Proofpoint customers.
The successful candidate will manage the team of threat researchers responsible for this work. The successful candidate will have prior experience in areas of threat detection, malware research, data analysis, and host or network forensics. This role will be able to participate in guiding automation efforts on her/his own team working with engineers on custom tool development, and by providing requirements to partner teams who share similar goals.
This role is responsible for both internal and external customer-facing interaction. This role will not only be a people manager but ensure excellent coverage for threat landscape briefings and act as a face of Proofpoint for customers and non-customers. This manager will have significant impact in the direction of the Emerging Threats products and Proofpoint detection capabilities as whole.
This leader will be responsible for the hiring, training and professional development of talented threat analysts. The team will focus on consistent and timely updates to detection methods as required by internal stakeholders, customer requests and the demands of the changing threat landscape.
