Data entry of tax information into income tax calculation models for the provision and the related tax returns as well as financial statement analyses and reports.  Performs tax research and maintains compliance trackers.  Acts in the capacity of the point of contact, obtaining the necessary documentation from other sources (internally and externally) as needed to support tax positions taken.

Administer the payroll tax reporting functions. Prepare the semi-monthly and/or quarterly federal and state payroll tax returns, including payment vouchers and wire transfers. As needed, assist in filing the annual W-2/G-1003 forms with the appropriate government agencies.  Interact with associates and government agencies in response to basic payroll tax notices inquiries from federal and state taxing authorities.

Administer the sales and use tax reporting functions, including preparation of payment request forms. Prepare the monthly/annual sales and use tax returns. Interact with associates to obtain appropriate documentation to support sale.  Interact with associates in response to basic sales and use tax notices and inquiries from state and local taxing authorities. 

Administer the property tax reporting functions.  Prepare the annual property tax returns, including PT-50 for tax abatement property, PT-42 for real property and the PT-41 packages filed with the state for Business Personal Property.  Assist in preparing the property tax budget and analyzing of any variance from the approved budget. 

Prepares tax related journal entries, accounting analyses and monthly/quarterly/annual account reconciliations. 

Note, these functions also apply to the companies OPC has an active management services agreement such as Smarr EMC, Green Power EMC, Green Power Solar and CT Parts LLC.


Education:  BBA in Accounting, Tax, Finance, Business or related field.

Experience:  3 years of progressive general accounting experience required, preference given to a specialty or prior experience in tax accounting and compliance.

Equivalent Experience:  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (i.e., communication skills, systems knowledge, personal and professional characteristics):  Ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the corporation.  Experience with using tax preparation software such as OneSource, as well as utilizing online tax research applications, preferred.  Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.  Experience with Infor (Lawson) and Business Objects applications helpful.  Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. 

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: CPA certificate or candidate preferred, but not required
