To further strengthen our Timing Applications Engineering Team at our Ottawa location we are looking for a System Applications Engineer in our Timing Products Division. 

Description:

In the Timing Products Division at IDT, we are passionate about supporting our customers through all stages of their product development, from initial architecture and setting requirements to final debug stages before production release.  We continually raise the bar in terms of customer support and responsiveness.

We are looking for a talented Systems Engineer with 5+ years experience to take on this new role as a System Applications Engineer. This role is a superset of a traditional Applications Engineering role, where it will require the ideal candidate to work with our customers in integrating IDT’s software and hardware into their own custom environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with customers in integrating IDT’s hardware and software into their build environments.

  • Perform hardware and software compliance testing in IDT’s state-of-the-art lab

  • Continuously build up knowledge of synchronization standards being used in next generation 5G networks.

  • Travel to customer sites and debug integration and system bring-up issues in their lab.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Comfortable in a team environment, working alongside engineering teams with different disciplines.

  • Independent thinker, constantly motivated to learn more and take on new challenges

Preferred Skills & Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of Python-based scripting

  • Strong understanding of analog and mixed-signal circuits

  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation such as spectrum analyzers, sampling/real-time oscilloscopes, frequency synthesizers, etc.

  • System level knowledge of timing platforms and hardware interfaces

  • Willingness to travel to customer sites

Education and/or Experience:  A technology-related bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and 5+ years of related experience. Additional work experience in a customer-facing role is a plus.
