The Assistant General Manager (CAFE BLOOR STREET) works in tandem with the General Manager of the Cafe, Front of House, and Back of House teams to create an unparalleled guest experience while ensuring a leading class experience for all staff members. The AGM will possess exceptional accountability for planning, organizing and directing all guest services, food and beverage operations, and development processes while achieving optimal guest satisfaction. 

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Champions Holt Renfrew's vision and values and ensures alignment amongst the team 
  • Create an environment that is warm, welcoming and filled with positivity for guests and employees
  • Supports the General Manager in leading daily operations 
  • Assists in designing and implementing staff training initiatives
  • Provides, acts, and reports on proactive strategies to ensure the cost of goods falls within budgeted parameters
  • Assesses staffing requirements on a continuous basis to identify current needs
  • Organizes and monitor staff schedules and ensures that budgeted labour costs are met
  • Creates and promotes strategies to improve service and grow business
  • Implements guest recognition programs to enhance experience and returning costumers
  • Interacts with guests, to ensure all inquiries and complaints are handled promptly
  • Maintains restaurant cleanliness and upholds esthetics standards of Holt Renfrew
  • Maintain all Health & Safety practices to code
  • Provide catering services to store and external functions
  • Create a menu appropriate to the Holt Renfrew image and standard
  • Ensure that only the freshest ingredients are utilized
  • Remain current with trends and fashions in food
  • Plate and present all food as per Holt Renfrew standard

The ideal candidate:

  • Diploma from a culinary school or institute
  • Fine Dining or luxury hotel restaurant experience an asset.
  • 5-7 years restaurant experience
  • Previous experience as a restaurant manager

The measures of success: 

  • Contribution to financial objectives
  • Individual objectives linked to the achievement of department goals
  • Feedback from internal and external clients
