The Senior Financial Analyst will use their knowledge and experience in financial reporting, financial analyses, accounting issues and audits and will be responsible for the overall integrity and timely preparation of financial results and associated analytics as well as additional financial reporting and disclosures as required by our parent company. 

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

·       Maintain the Fixed Asset subledger ensuring that all capitalizations/disposals adhere to policy and IFRS standards

  • Maintain the statutory accounts and records for Properties entity and Pension plans

·       Participate in month-end and year-end closing procedures including balance sheet and P&L account reconciliations and fixed asset continuity schedules

  • Act as an internal financial consultant to different areas of the business in order to advise on the financial impact of decisions, and assist users in interpreting and understanding the results
  • Prepare and remit occupancy related payments
  • Prepare and/or update business process & procedural documentation with respect to fixed assets and occupancy accounting; including identifying opportunities for efficiency

·       Research and analyze IFRS accounting issues including preparation of position papers for external audit,; ensure that transactions posted are in accordance with IFRS

·       Prepare complete and accurate reporting to statutory bodies including Statistics Canada

·       Support the planning and analysis team in the interpretation of financial results and assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts as required

·       Prepare supplementary operational reports to assist management in evaluating results

·       Provide training, including document preparation and delivery, as well as coaching to the accounting and FP&A teams

·       Respond to ad hoc requests for financial information

·       Act as liaison with external auditors as required during the financial statement and pension plan audit

·       Prepare quarterly and annual additional note disclosure positions by the prescribed deadlines

·       Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the enterprise by performing other duties as required

·       Complies with all Health & Safety policies and requirements


The ideal candidate:

·        Accounting or Finance Degree/Diploma

·       Completed professional accountancy program (CGA, CMA, CA)

·        4-5 years of relevant financial accounting and reporting experience

·        Advanced/expert Excel skills; intermediate PowerPoint skills

·        Data analytics a significant asset

·        Experience with SAP, Cognos and other large accounting systems is an asset

·        Strong analytical, critical thinking, and customer service skills

·        Detail oriented and takes initiative

·        Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills with the ability to get things done 

·        Excellent interpersonal skills; a team player who is able to act as both a leader and an individual contributor as required

·        Confident and effective communication (written & verbal)

·        Is adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity and change 

·        Highly service-oriented with exceptional organizational and follow up skills

·        Passionate about fashion and luxury retailing
