The General Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our reported financial position and results by ensuring transactions are properly reconciled and recorded.


Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Record monthly journal entries, reclassifications and accruals including system generated entries, store transactions, tax, bank, petty cash, receivables, prepaid and rent
  • Prepare monthly financial reconciliations related to rent, taxes, receivables, clearing accounts and prepaid
  • Responsible for preparing sales tax returns, remittances and associated schedules.
  • Support Accounts Receivable Coordinator with daily tasks and journal entries as necessary
  • Assist with system testing and other system related tasks
  • Support the Financial Planning and Analysis team in the interpretation of financial results and assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts as required
  • Assist with external and internal audit as required
  • Prepare ad-hoc analysis, reports, and special projects as necessary
  • Assist the Accounting department in other functions as needed


The ideal candidate:

  • Accounting or Finance Degree/Diploma
  • Completed or studying to obtain a professional accountancy designation (CGA, CMA, CA)
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience required
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Proficient in remaining Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Working knowledge with ERP system (SAP)
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to get things done 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; a team player who is able to act as both a leader and an individual contributor as required
  • Confident and effective communication (written & verbal)
  • Is adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity and change 
  • Passionate about fashion and luxury retailing
