The Social Media Specialist drives and executes Holt’s organic social media strategy (excluding WeChat & Weibo), by engaging with our current followers and identifying opportunities to acquire new ones. All of this occurs while working collaboratively with all relevant stakeholders including executives, stores, brand, PR, Digital Marketing, vendors and the Merchant team. Also, keep up to date with the marketplace, looking for emerging trends that help ensure Holts positions itself as a leader in the social media space.

Specific Responsibilities include (but are not limited it) the following:

  • In conjunction with the Director, Content Strategy, oversee the multi cross functional social media strategy (organic) to increase engagement on Holts’ social media accounts & growth in new followers
  • Generate awareness that can drive store traffic
  • Manage and champion the organic social media calendar that aligns with marketing campaign themes and goals (excluding WeChat & Weibo) 
  • Collaborate with Marketing team to align social media calendar with other marketing activities
    • Work with PR team and media buy agency to leverage earned and paid media for social media opportunities
    • Work with Merchant Marketing and store teams to leverage store events and programs for social media opportunities
  • Utilize social media best practices to drive engagement and acquisition strategies through various platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook & Twitter
  • Be a the subject matter expert on social media within Holts and ensure that Holts is capitalizing on potential innovation in this space
  • Manage the daily functionality of:
    • Executing the calendar by posting on all platform (excluding WeChat & Weibo)
    • Leveraging social media tools to identify opportunities to engage with followers on the relevant platform in real time
    • Directing customer queries on social media to the appropriate internal teams (customer service, PR, merchants…), while tracking and engaging with those to ensure those queries are resolved
    • Managing work back, program flow and implementation with both internal and external teams ensuring all program deliverables are met on brand and on time
    • Overseeing marketing briefs for all social media marketing programs ensuring accuracy with timing, targeting as well as manage all approvals for programs
    • Ensuring multiple divisional marketing calendars, project status; integration calendars updates are all accurate and updated in a timely manner
    • Supporting with preparation of organic social media marketing strategies for key vendor seasonal/annual business reviews including program forecast, post mortems, performance on KPI metrics and new strategic ideas
    • Supporting with preparation of internal and external presentations to communicate divisional marketing strategies, plans, vendor proposals and tactics as required (e.g. GM conference & vendor meeting inputs, vendor proposals)

The ideal candidate:

  • Expert on social media with deep understanding of best practices, industry trends and future innovation in that space
  • Experience with working and leveraging social media and listening tools (i.e. Sprout, Hootsuite)
  • Demonstrated success with driving engagement and acquisition on social media accounts, especially on Instagram
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of post-university work experience, including a minimum of 3+ years leading a business unit or enterprise-wide strategy  
  • Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills with the ability to get things done 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; a team player who is able to act as both a leader and an individual contributor as required
  • Confident and effective communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Is adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity and change 
  • Passionate about fashion and luxury retailing
