Knowledgeable in the closing of Construction Work in Progress to Electric Plant in Service and the unitization of Electric Plant in Service utilizing the corporations fixed asset system. Understanding of the accounting processes as they relate to utility plant asset accounts in the Continuing Property Records and in accordance with RUS guidelines using RUS prescribed Plant Accounts, the corporations Retirement Unit Schedules (RUS), and Retirement Unit Codes (RUC).
Analyze and review completed Construction Work Orders to ensure proper recording of material, labor, and overheads. Identify and unitize major retirement units from construction work order to Electric Plant in Service. Prepare and maintain complete and accurate continuing property records utilizing the corporation's fixed asset system.
Support the month end close process for fixed asset accounts to include the monthly additions, retirements, and transfers of the corporation assets from construction work in progress.
Provide assistance, unitized information, and original cost of retirement units as requested by Transmission Service Engineers, Project Managers, Supply Chain, and others.
Education: Associates degree in a business field.
Experience: Four years work experience in the utility industry. Familiar with utility terminology and various equipment used in the industry.
Equivalent Experience: High school diploma or GED with ten years work experience in a utility accounting related environment.
Specialized Skills (e.g., typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc.): Good analytical skills. Knowledge and understanding of RUS and FERC Uniform System of Accounts. Working knowledge of automated systems and query tools. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge and competency in the use of desk top computers and software to include spreadsheet software, and database management software.
