An Equipment Field Specialist position that coordinates and oversees major repairs and upgrades on all substation equipment. The person in this position will be expected to work with the manufacturers, industry equipment experts, Georgia Power equipment specialists, and contractors to be aware and knowledgeable of how to install the new transmission equipment and on-line monitoring devices. This person will assist in managing the breaker maintenance program. This person will also be responsible for the implementation of equipment service advisories, improved testing procedures and guidelines, modification kits, and necessary upgrades.
Education: Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or related field.
Experience: Four (4) years of experience in transmission substation construction, operations or maintenance.
Equivalent Experience: Six (6) years of experience in transmission construction, operations, or maintenance.
License: Valid Georgia Driver's License
Specialized Skills (e.g., typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc.): Competent in the use of a computer, iPAD, MAXIMO, Vanguard breaker timer, Doble TR900 breaker timer, Doble M4100 power factor test set, DILO gas analyzer, DILO gas cart, NDB CT tester, Vanguard contact resistance tester, Megger insulation resistance tester, major equipment analysis software, and other substation test equipment. Ability to interpret and utilize engineering drawings and specifications, GTC safety practices and electric operating procedures is required. Contract administration, conflict management skills, and a GA Drivers License are necessary. The ability to pass GTC 5 day ITS switching authority training and perform switching inside an electrical substation.
