Responsible for teaching of instructional training material related to the Integrated Transmission System (ITS) class curriculum. The range of classes taught would include, but not limited to the following classes; Transmission Substation First Responder, ITS 5-Day Qualified Operator, 1-Day Re-qualification, Substation Access Only, Substation and Transmission Line Emergency Restoration and combination classes. This effort would include administering of on-site written tests as required to accommodate specific requests from EMC members or other parties. This position would be responsible for quality and quantity of student notebooks, classroom materials, classroom set-up, test materials and post-session evaluations. Additional responsibility would include oversight and awareness of the operations of the ECTC Substation that is used for training purposes. This responsibility would include maintenance and inventory of classroom supplies, ordering of class materials, consistency of classroom experience, support of departmental training objectives, etc. In addition, this position would be required to provide feedback and input on class curriculum and adjust delivery as appropriate to meet department objectives. Occasional travel may be required for special EMC on-site training and/or meetings.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Education and/or technical education, engineering, or related field.
Experience: Four (4) years of technical training experience consisting of the design, development and delivery of technical training programs dealing with subjects related to an electric transmission system.
Equivalent Experience: Associate’s Degree, plus six (6) years of experience working with transmission voltage substation equipment for an electric utility or High School Diploma with eight (8) years of experience working with an electric utility in operations or maintenance of transmission line and substation equipment at 46 kV and above. Prior experience writing and executing switching orders on a transmission system is required. Operations and maintenance of substation equipment, transformers, voltage regulators, capacitors, reclosers, and other transmission related equipment. Utilization of control procedures associated with the safe operation of an electric bulk power system, with particular working knowledge of the Georgia Integrated Transmission System (ITS) preferred.
Prior experience as a technical training instructor is highly desirable.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Valid GA Driver’s license
Specialized Skills (e.g., typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc.): Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint. Good organization skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Provide excellent customer service responding to client needs in person, by phone, email, or mail.
Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.
