Associate Project Manager - Construction


Description

With direction from Senior Project Managers and Manager, manage a cross-functional team of staff and contract resources in the planning, engineering and construction of multiple substation and transmission line projects.  Project portfolio will comprise of less complex, smaller value projects and projects supporting GTC smaller scale construction programs.  For assigned projects, support the scope development process and manage the estimating, cost and schedule, siting, environmental and regulatory compliance, design, contract management, procurement, land acquisition, construction, commissioning and close-out functions.  Support GTC's public input process and condemnation activities.  Direct project specific relationships with Member Systems and other customers, ITS Members, contractors, consultants and vendors.  Ensure the use of approved project methodologies and compliance with corporate policies and procedures. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of project activities and status to management.

Job Duties:   Manage and/or support scoping, estimating and scheduling for all phases of GTC's capital construction project activities to ensure completion in accordance with Member System, customer, GTC, and ITS needs. Manage all project costs to meet budget and/or bid goals.  Direct multi-functional team members to ensure proper integration of all disciplines.  Manage all service and construction contracts so that requirements are met and cost, schedule, scope and quality are closely monitored and achieved.  Provide feedback regarding contractor and vendor performance.  Manage timely and accurate project closeouts so that accurate documentation and lessons learned can be accomplished. Manage internal and external relationships to promote communication practices that result in timely, accurate, and consistent project information.

 

Education:  BS in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management.

 

Experience:  Five (5) years in the electric utility transmission projects industry with experience in some of the following areas: scoping, estimating, project control, contract administration, facility siting, environmental/regulatory, land acquisition, design, construction and project management.

 

Equivalent Experience:  Ten (10) years in the electric utility transmission projects industry with experience in some of the following areas:  scoping, estimating, project control, contract administration, facility siting, environmental/regulatory, land acquisition, design, construction and project management.

 

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:  Registration, or qualified for immediate registration, as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or as a Professional Engineer in the State of Georgia.

 

Specialized Skills:   Computer Network environment with Microsoft Office.
