    Description

    JOB SUMMARY: 

    The Accountant II will ensure the application of proper accounting practices and perform general accounting duties in accordance with GAAP, the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and industry-related guidelines. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven experience and success in an accountant role, general office administration skills, and excellent internal and external customer service.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Maintain the general ledger and all related accounts, in accordance with GAAP, with proper documentation and records of all company transactions.

    • Review entries to the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance with the company’s established policies and procedures.

    • Prepare, record, process, and reconcile accounts payable, cash disbursements, client receipts, and bank deposits.

    • Process weekly timesheets, expense reports, and mileage logs.

    • Process bi-weekly payroll (using third-party software), weekly employee expense reports, and quarterly 401(k) employer contributions.

    • Review quarterly payroll tax returns and year-end W-2s.

    • Prepare state and local Sales/Use Tax returns while maintain all necessary documentation.

    • Coordinate with tax accountant by providing the necessary reports and information for yearly state and federal tax returns.

    • Maintain schedule of W-9s and process yearly 1099s.

    • Record accounts receivable and prepare periodic and final invoice packages, including required backup documentation, for billable projects.

    • Assist in establishment and maintenance of internal controls, policies and procedures, and keep current on all state, federal, DCAA and other industry-related requirements.

    • Undertake various projects to resolve accounting issues as they arise.

    • Maintain schedules and supporting documentation in order to prepare and post adjusting journal entries necessary for period-end close.

    • Coordinate and assist external auditors on year-end audit of financial statements.

    • Willingness to perform other duties as requested by Controller/Finance Manager, President or senior management

     

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Adhere to job-specific requirements of RockSol’s quality standards and Quality Management System (QMS)

    • Other administrative duties as assigned.

     

    MINIMUM  QUALIFICATIONS:

    • B.S. degree or higher in Accounting or Finance

    • 4-7 years of experience of related work experience as an Accountant or similar role.

    • In-depth understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.

    • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.

    • Positive, effective communication skills with strong customer service orientation.

    • High attention to detail, including content and format, ability to produce accurate, well-formatted documents.

    • Excellent organizational, administrative, analytical, and writing skills.

    • Must maintain confidentiality and exercise professional discretion and integrity.

    • Must possess initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

     

    PREFERRED  QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Work experience in A/E/C industry.

    • Experience in billing government contracts and a general understanding of FAR (Federal Acquisitions Regulation).

    • Flexibility and willingness to support multiple projects.

    • Excellent time management and efficiency.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The employee must be able to sit at computer work station for extended periods and occasionally move/lift up to 20 pounds.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Office environment with computer work station.  Frequent use of phones and office equipment.  Moderate noise level.
