    Description

    PROPOSAL WRITER INTERN - Temporary Position

     

    JOB SUMMARY:

     

    The Proposal Writer Intern will work with technical, preproposal, and graphics staff, and management to identify future opportunities and assist in producing business proposals, presentations, and literature. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, detail-oriented, creative professional with proven writing, communication and task management skills, who can produce high-quality business documents under tight deadlines.  This will be a temporary internship with a duration of approximately 6-8 months.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Assist with research on and identification of potential business development opportunities.

    • Assist in preparation of professional, well-planned and creative business proposals in response to client Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Request for Qualifications (RFQs).

    • Write and develop comprehensive marketing proposals, including written text, graphic design, page layout and formatting

    • Collaborate with proposal teams, technical staff, and management to outline, rewrite, edit and format proposals that fully comply with customer requirements in terms of both content and format.

    • Ensure proposal processes are followed according to Company standards and documents are submitted in accordance with established guidelines

    • Communicate proposal-related requirements and status with senior management, as appropriate

    • Support production, reproduction, binding/packaging, and distribution of hard/soft copies proposals and other marketing documents

    • Write internal project resumes for selected personnel and update employee experience on a regular basis

    • Create and publish monthly employee newsletters

    • Maintain marketing information and tracking systems, including project descriptions and internal employee resumes.

    • Use company templates and brand standards to produce high quality, consistent marketing materials.

    • Establish and maintain electronic and/or hard copy files, regularly review files for organization and applicability.

    • Produce accurate, timely documents that meet quality standards and proposal specifications.

       

     

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • General administrative duties, including but not limited to answering phones, filing, assisting employees or visitors, occasional errands, and other routine administrative functions.

    • May assist with business process automation activities and work flow improvements.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

       

      MINIMUM  QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Current undergraduate or graduate student or recent graduate within past 12 months

    • Higher education fields of study include Business, Marketing, Communications, English, Technical Writing, Journalism, or a related field

    • 2 years of experience in writing business proposals with B.A./B.S. degree or 0-1 year of experience with M.A. or M.B.A. degree

    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher), Adobe Acrobat, Proficiency in document formatting and desktop publishing techniques.

    • Demonstrated solid technical writing, editing and proofreading skills. Writing samples required.

       

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Highly organized and self-starting.

    • Keen eye for detail and skills in compliance, style, and consistency throughout written documents, with emphasis on accuracy and quality.

    • Ability to effectively prioritize and complete multiple concurrent projects

    • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

    • Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team

    • Writing, research, and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to accurately proofread the entire document.

    • Proficiency in using business-related software programs and aptitude for learning new software.

    • Familiarity with business or data analytics would be a plus.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

      Sitting and typing at computer workstation for extended periods

      Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.

       

      WORK ENVIRONMENT:

      Office environment with computer work station.  Moderate noise level.
