    Sr. Transportation Engineer

    The Senior Transportation Engineer will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and oversight of assigned transportation/road design and construction projects. This position includes the preparation of procedures for design and construction operations, in conformance with the company’s quality management system.




    • Preparation of specifications for assigned construction or design projects.

    • Review project proposals and plans to determine project requirements, schedules, funding limitations and procedures for accomplishing the project.

    • Establish project priorities, work plan and staffing for project in conjunction with management.

    • Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure that standards, procedures, specifications, schedules and budgets are met.

    • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, contractors, engineers, and other project and administrative personnel.

    • Visit project sites as necessary to audit procedures, observe progress, resolve issues, and meet with project personnel.

    • Provide regular communication and reports to management, clients, and other parties.

    • Assist in preparation of business proposals and project documentation.

    • Train and mentor other staff as assigned.

    • Must meet internal requirements for drug screening operation of company vehicles throughout duration of employment.

    • Other duties as assigned.



    • B.S. or higher in Civil Engineering or related field

    • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)

    • 20 years of experience as a transportation engineer and/or transportation manager, including roadway design and construction projects, and quality audits

    • Previous successful management in major civil engineering organizations

    • Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills

    • Ability to provide oversight of engineering design, quality management, and construction in compliance with professional standards and guidelines

    • Ability to work in a team environment

    • Must have insurable driving record and be able to drive to job sites

    • Must be willing to participate in drug and alcohol screening program




    • Excellent communication, management, and problem solving skills

    • Previous transportation engineering management or project management on DOT projects

    • Previous planning, design and management of transportation projects

    • Demonstrated ability to manage and provide oversight to multiple active projects in different phases of design and construction

    • Ability to effectively motivate, supervise and mentor employees

    • Previous experience in development of written policies and procedures


    • Sitting at desk with frequent use of phone and computer

    • Ability to drive company vehicles to construction and other work sites as required.

    • Occasional overnight travel may be necessary.


    • Office environment with computer work station.Moderate noise level.

    • Some travel to construction sites and field offices.
