Tenure-track Position in Fitness, Exercise and Sports

The Fitness, Exercise and Sports Department invites applications for full-time tenure-track faculty appointment at the assistant or associate level commencing September 1, 2018 . Academic rank will be commiserate with credentials and experience.

Candidates with college-level experience teaching exercise science courses such as, exercise physiology, kinesiology, motor learning, exercise testing and prescription, sports nutrition and foundations of exercise science are encouraged to apply. A strong background in exercise science-related research and publication, and an earned doctoral degree in exercise physiology or a related exercise science field are required. Certification by the American College of Sports Medicine is a plus. In extraordinary cases as determined by the university, a doctorate degree may not be required .

Successful applicants will be required to teach a variety of exercise sciences courses including: biomechanics; tests and measurements; exercise physiology; and teaching activity classes. They will also need to develop and maintain a research agenda that involves students and produces scholarly publications and presentations.  Mentoring, academic advisement and the registration of exercise science majors will be required, as is the supervision of student internships. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of technological competence, working knowledge of student and program assessment, strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills, and commitment to diversity among faculty, staff and students.  Emphasis will be placed on providing service to the university and community, and in particular to work together with faculty, students and community members to advance health and fitness on campus and with the external community.
