Tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor Position in Counselor Education —
Clinical Mental Health Counseling
New Jersey City University, Department of Counselor Education invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position for our CACREP accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at the Assistant or Associate faculty level starting September 1st, 2018.
The Department of Counselor Education at NJCU is seeking a colleague committed to excellence in teaching at the graduate level, scholarship, and service. We seek a person who has strong leadership and mentorship skills in the field of mental health counseling with expertise in addiction/substance abuse counseling.
The successful candidate will be committed to a program moving towards greater visibility with a highly competitive research agenda leading to publications, potential grants, and conference presentations. Specific responsibilities include teaching specialized graduate courses in clinical mental health counseling (addiction/substance abuse counseling and other counseling courses), providing clinical supervision and academic advisement for students, participating in departmental and university activities, being affiliated with professional counseling organizations, and engaging in research and scholarly activities.

Candidates must be committed to working effectively and cooperatively with colleagues within and outside of the Department. Candidates must have an earned doctorate degree in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program. Candidates must also have New Jersey Counselor licensure (LAC or LPC) or eligibility. Candidates must specialize in clinical mental health counseling with expertise in addiction/substance abuse counseling and possess a primary identity as a professional counselor.
Other preferred qualifications/areas of interest may include family and marriage counseling; familiarity with Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in NJ; knowledge and commitment to CACREP accreditation; multicultural counseling. We seek a candidate with ideas and professional experiences that have implications for the future of counseling profession.
