POSITION DESCRIPTION

As a key member of our architectural team in the Toronto Office the successful applicant will be focusing on the Sports & Entertainment, Transit, Transportation and Aviation sectors with some Hospitality and Commercial work. You will be actively involved in producing conceptual and schematic design drawings, design development and construction working drawings; producing presentation drawings and renderings, and translating schematic designs into more developed architectural design solutions under the direction of a principal architect. The successful individual will coordinate architectural drawings with the work of consulting engineers and will be knowledgeable of architectural detailing and working drawings. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Architects in the design of plans and preliminary estimates;
  • Be proficient at construction detailing, developing and researching appropriate details;

  • Validate plans with project programs and apply the code prescriptions and other regulations;
  • Review existing documentation and visit sites in order to gather the essential data for the preparation of architectural drawing, documentation, models and/or preliminary estimations;

  • Develop visualizations by using specialized computer software (Ex. 3D models with REVIT, and other similar 3D software;

  • Assist Technicians on the team and when required, supervise the work of Draftspersons that are designated to the project when help is needed;

  • Attend the meetings of the design team;

  • Perform all other related tasks that will help accomplish the project;
  • Other duties as assigned/required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Architectural degree and/or ability to get Architectural Education certified / or other equivalent training and experience and leading to becoming an intern architect and get OAA registration;

  • 3 or more years of relevant Architectural office experience in conception and CAD drawings and/or BIM is required;

  • Proficient with the following software: AutoCad, REVIT, Sketchup, MS Office Suite including MS Project.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Vectorworks an asset.

  • The ability to create professional quality renderings and presentation material is critical;

  • Experience in relevant project types will be considered an asset;

  • Good initiative, attention to detail;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as well as in a team environment.
